Shuckers Oyster Bar is located in the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. Its oak paneling and old-world decor evoke the romance of its history, tracing back to the 1930’s where it was once a men’s clothing store. With many tables arranged throughout the restaurant in little nooks and crannies, it’s a great place for a romantic dinner for two. But the boisterous atmosphere emanating from the beautiful bar is also welcoming to gatherings with good friends.

However and with whomever you decide to dine, it’s the perfect setting to enjoy the West Coast’s finest seafood – namely platters full of gorgeous oysters.

We wasted no time ordering a mighty selection of oysters (fresh, beautifully briny and delicious), starting with a dozen, and adding on a half-dozen more of our favourites. We paired our feast with the Raeburn Chardonnay (2021) – pleasantly oaky, with warming vanilla notes and tastes of crisp fruit. A perfect match for our oysters…and the rest of our meal.

We’d planned to limit ourselves to oysters, and certainly could have done that. But with the featured fish menu literally dangling before our eyes, we couldn’t resist extending our meal with a few fresh seafood selections. For him – plump, succulent scallops served with whipped potatoes and charred Brussel sprouts.

For me, the Coho salmon, fresh, tender and scrumptious, served with a dijon vinaigrette, and accompanied by whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus.

We were deep in it now, enjoying the atmosphere, the great service and delicious food. So, we lingered a little longer capping off a thoroughly enjoyable evening with dessert.

Our evening at Shuckers was our “light at the end of the tunnel” meal, virtually our first stop after a long day of travel. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to kick off our Seattle visit – great food, terrific service, and wonderful laid back elegance. Do check it out Shuckers if you’re ever in the Seattle area!
